Children's Session
Objectives

Improve communication skills.

Improve peer-refusal skills.

Increase recognition of feelings.

Increase knowledge of drugs and alcohol.

Improve coping skills for anger and criticism.

Reduce future intentions and use of alcohol and drugs.
Fees
The only fees are for the cost of handbooks. Each parent
and each child will need a handbook that costs $25.
Funding
Implementation of the Strengthening Families Program is
funded by the
Texas Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse
(TCADA). TCADA is focusing on substance-abuse prevention
as well as the recovery of the entire family. TCADA selected
this program to be implemented in the state of Texas because
it is the first research-based prevention program designed
for substance-abusing parents and their children.
